Boston Red Sox Daisuke Matsuzaka returning from DL

Blogged under Front Page, Injuries, Bloglockers, Arrivals & Departures by Andrew on Saturday 12 September 2009 at 3:43 pm

The Boston Red Sox Daisuke Matsuzaka has almost been forgotten in Boston this year.  Dice-K has been on the disabled list for three months and the Red Sox have sorely missed the right hander who went 18-3 for them last year.  Dice-K is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels.  In an injury riddled year, he has gone 1-5 with a 8.23 ERA in eight starts before going on the DL.  Other than Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, and Clay Buchholz the Red Sox rotation is very shaky, so the addition of Dice-K will be a much needed one.  The Red Sox are two games up on the Texas Rangers in the wild card and take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:10 pm ET at home tonight.

The Red Sox couldn’t get any offense going against the Indians last night and it cost them the game.

Terry Francona got badly outmanaged in this game as he didn’t use the bullpen too well and the result was a 7-run 11th inning for the Cleveland Indians.

The Indians never had a chance in this game as Josh Beckett pitched well and the Sox had the bats going at the same time.

Forget all of the hoopla about a Red Sox/Yankees matchup as the best two teams in the American League will square off for the right to represent the American League in the World Series.
