The Boston Red Sox Daisuke Matsuzaka has almost been forgotten in Boston this year.  Dice-K has been on the disabled list for three months and the Red Sox have sorely missed the right hander who went 18-3 for them last year.  Dice-K is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels.  In an injury riddled year, he has gone 1-5 with a 8.23 ERA in eight starts before going on the DL.  Other than Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, and Clay Buchholz the Red Sox rotation is very shaky, so the addition of Dice-K will be a much needed one.  The Red Sox are two games up on the Texas Rangers in the wild card and take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:10 pm ET at home tonight.

With extra off days in the first round of the playoffs the Red Sox decided to let Tim Wakefield rest his back so that he will be ready for Round #2 if the Red Sox make it that far.

The Red Sox are going to place catcher Doug Mirabelli on the 15-day disabled list because he left the first game of the doubleheader today with the Angels due to a strained right calf.

Brendan Donnelly will need to undergo Tommy John surgery soon and he will miss the remainder of the 2007 season and almost all of the 2008 season.

The Red Sox have placed Joel Pineiro on the 15-day disabled list with an ankle injury.
